Disco space cadets Bestfriends are another electronic-based duo with a defined 90s pop throwback sound. Bestfriends are as much an R&B group as dance floor conductors. This is what they thought the future would sound like in 1978. Musically, Bestfriends are driven by robotic synths, funk guitar lines and grooving bass, a fun setup that unabashedly reaches for pop peaks. For a debut, Bestfriends’ 2012 EP is a nicely polished effort – controlled vocal dynamics push their sound clearly over the top.
